The Bullion people Inc. state they set up the company based on their mutual appreciation of bullion with their clients. This bullion dealer is a newcomer to dealer industry and as of writing does not offer any storage services or TFSA and RRSP accounts.

We see this option more suitable for a causal investor or buyer of bullion who is not looking to invest in precious metals through a retirement account and will possibly handle storage personally. Investors with previous purchases who already have safe and secure storage availability may also find The Bullion People interesting in a specific moment.

The Bullion People is one of the newest arrivals to the bullion dealer industry and only opened its doors 7 years ago as reported by the Better Business Bureau. Most of the social media reviews are positive. However, there are some instances of negative reviews due mostly to delayed delivery.

The Bullion People is not accredited by the BBB, although accreditation is not mandatory, and companies must apply for it and pay a fee, it would add to the company’s credibility. To get the BBB accreditation companies must comply with a series of standards in transparency, honesty, and trust.

The Bullion People Management & History

True that The Bullion People is a very young company. However, we could not find any publicly available information about the history or more importantly the management of the company. We understand that as The Bullion People is a young company there might not be much to comment on their history, but more the reason to showcase their management profiles.

The Bullion People Products & Services

This bullion dealer concentrates mostly on mint production bars and coins with only a few numismatic items. They offer coins and bars in the following precious metals:

• Gold
• Silver
• Platinum

The Bullion People have a varied selection of bullion and a few coins that are not from recognized mints known as rounds. The selection of silver counts 65 items, 35 coins, 23 bars, and 5 rounds. The gold offering is also wide with 40 items, 10 coins, 21 bars, and 1 round.

The Bullion People do not offer any palladium items, however, that have an appropriate selection of platinum coins, and 1 platinum bar on sale. All platinum items are from official mints.

Gold

Gold coins sizes start at 1 gram, and go as high as 30 grams, in between you’ll find coins of 1/10^th Oz, ¼ Oz, ½ Oz, and 1 Oz. At the time of writing only one gold coin was available in stock, the 2022 Britannia 1 Oz Gold Coin.

The rest of the coins on offer were either for pre-order or out of stock. Particularly disappointing was to see popular gold coins such as the 2022 Maple Leaf 1 Oz coin or the 2022 Austrian Philharmonic 1 Oz gold coin available only with a pre-order.

Among gold bars their offering goes from 1 gram to 1 kilo. In between they offer bars of 2.5 grams, 5 grams, 10 grams, and 1 Oz. The variety of smaller sizes makes purchasing gold easier for the smallest of investors.

 

The number of gold bars with in-stock availability was much better than the availability of coins. The Bullion People had 6 gold bars in stock, and another 10 with pre-order only.

Silver

Of the 35 silver coins offered on The Bullion people’s website 12 were in-stock, and 5 were available by pre-order only.

One coin that did catch our attention was the 2022 British Little John 1 Oz. Silver Coin. The coin has the image of Robin Hood’s right hand and would be of particular interest to those who enjoyed they stories of the philanthropist road bandit.

Platinum

At the time of writing The Bullion people had only one platinum item with in-stock availability, and one coin for pre-order. The 2022 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 Oz Platinum Coin it the only coin currently available from the platinum offering.

Discounts

Discounts for bulk orders vary greatly from one item to another. And some items do not receive any discount at all. For example, 1 Oz Gold bars get a bilk discount from 25 plus units and then a further discount applies from 100 plus units. The 1-gram gold bar available gets a discount from 25 plus units with no further scaling.

The same rules for discounts also apply when buying silver and platinum. The British Little John 1 Oz coin for example, carries no discount for bulk orders. While the popular Canadian Maple Leaf 1 Oz Silver Coin has discounts from 25 plus, 100 plus, 250 plus, and 500 plus.

The platinum offer currently only has one coin available, and discount is offered for bulk orders.

Shipping

Many bullion dealers offer free shipping; however, the free shipping perk usually comes with purchases that run into the thousands. The Bullion People Free shipping starts with orders over $500 only.

Storage

The Bullion People do not currently offer storage services for your bullion purchases. You may be a casual precious metals investor and not have any real need for secure and insured storage facilities. Or you may already have investments in bullion and your bars and coins safely stored. In both case the lack of storage services may not impact your purchasing choices with The Bullion People.

However, if you are thinking of buying a substantive quantity of precious metal, you may have to organize for storage with another company. If home storage is not an option for holding your bullion, that would certainly be the case.

There are many other bullion dealers that will take care of transportation and safe and secure storage. So, you may want to consider other options if you are not going to take care of your bullion personally.

Selling Your precious Metals

Whether you previously bought your precious metals from The Bullion people or not you can sell your gold, silver, and platinum to this dealer. They require that all items are in the form of coins or bars and at least 99.9% pure.

You can call them or email them for a quote, and they will provide you with a shipping label. You can the ship your bullion in a secure package, and with insured delivery. Once they have received your precious metal coins and bars they test the items for purity and send you the payment.

Do We Recommend The Bullion People for Your Next Gold Purchase?

If you are looking for immediately available variety of coins and bars The Bullion People may not be the best choice for you. They do have competitive pricing for the gold coins and bars on stock, so they are well situated for meeting investor demand for low mark ups. However, they have a very limited choice, currently only one gold bar and coin are available on their website for immediate purchase.

Overall they have a wide selection of items in gold and silver, but they are mostly in pre-order status. Also, if you do not have storage requirements of your own, The Bullion People do not offer this service. Lack of storage facilities can complicate matters if you are buying large quantities and would like to sell back to them.
